How to Get Crates in Rocket League Xbox One?
My Xbox ballers! We’ve been dominating Rocket League matches for years, pulling off insane goals and decking out our rides with the hottest decals, wheels, and goal explosions unlocked from Crates. My OG Xbox squad remembers – half the fun has been saving up Keys for the slot machine, praying for the rare Black Market BMDs but usually ending up with whack antenna #501 again!
The thrill of scoring a coveted mystery decal felt electric while the heartbreak of garbage drops was real. But we kept grinding on Xbox One, chasing the car of our dreams one Crate at a time. Newbies have it easy these days, but we veterans poured blood, sweat, and Keys into making our Battle Cars shine brighter than Diamond rank.
Whether you’ve been flying across DFH Stadium since 2015 or just picked up Rocket League off GamePass, let’s break down everything there is to know about spicing up your whips using Crates…the OG way to pimp your rides way back!
Does Rocket League Provide Crates Anymore?
Rocket League by Psyonix was launched in 2015 and quickly became one of the most popular multiplayer sports games. The game allowed players to customize their battle cars with cool decals, boosts, wheels, and more using a loot box-based system called “Crates”.
However, in late 2019, Psyonix announced that they would be removing loot boxes/crates from the game by the end of 2019 to comply with various gambling regulations.
So, if you’re searching for ways to snag Crates, you’re chasing a ghost.
What about Event Crates? (Nope, Those Are Gone Too!)
Remember those limited-edition Event Crates that popped up during special occasions? Yeah, those are gone too. No more waiting for specific events to snag unique items. Now, Rocket League offers themed cosmetics directly through the Item Shop, giving you more control and transparency over your customization journey.
What Alternative Rocket League is Providing to Crates?
So, what replaced the Crates of yesteryear? Enter Blueprints, a system that shows you exactly what item you’ll get before you unlock it, along with the cost in Credits (the in-game currency). No more gambling, just pure, unadulterated customization knowledge!
Here’s the beauty of Blueprints:
- Transparency: You know what you’re getting, no more guessing games.
- Control: Choose which items to unlock based on your preference and budget.
- Variety: Blueprints come in different rarities, from common to Black Market (super rare), offering a wide range of customization options.
Ways to Get Blueprints in Rocket League on Xbox One
With Crates no longer being a part of Rocket League, Blueprints have taken their place as the new system for acquiring item customizations. Here are the main ways Xbox One players can get Blueprints:
Free Methods
There are a few reliable ways to earn Blueprints in Rocket League completely for free. These include playing matches, taking on challenges, and leveling up the Rocket Pass.
Play Online Matches: Simply playing online matches in Rocket League grants you a chance to earn random Blueprints after the game ends, win or lose. The rarity and potential value of the Blueprint depends on factors like:
- Your score/stats during that match
- The game mode played (competitive modes have better drop rates for rarer items)
- Your account level and Rocket Pass progression status
So while the exact Blueprint item is random, playing well and playing tougher modes can increase your chances of higher rarity Blueprints.
Complete Challenges: Completing Rocket League’s rotating daily, weekly, and seasonal event challenges is another way to get free Blueprints. The rarity varies but even Easy challenges reward Premium-quality Blueprints.
Things that can influence the reward Blueprint rarity include:
- Challenge Difficulty (Easy, Medium, Hard)
- Whether it’s a Daily/Weekly or Special Event challenge
- How many other challenges you’ve completed recently
So it pays to regularly check and complete as many available challenges as possible.
Rocket Pass Progression: Slowly but surely earning Blueprints by leveling up the Free Rocket Pass reward track is another free option.
It offers several Blueprints throughout its progression tiers. They provide around 17 or 18 drops that contain blueprints. Amongst those 17s drop, there you will have 8 uncommon, 4 rare, and 5 very rare items!
Limited Time Holiday Events
On top of the standard Crate system, Rocket League has also run various limited-time special events around holidays like Halloween and Christmas. These events introduce exclusive themed Crates containing items you can’t get anywhere else!
Now, instead of crates, you will get blueprints from the events. During the events, you will get 1 box/crate/drop after completing 5 matches or event quests. You can get at most 5 drops/crates. Therefore, you will have to play around 100 matches!
Paid Methods
For players looking to supplement free Blueprints or target specific items, there are some paid avenues available as well.
Purchase Blueprints Directly: You can use Credits (purchased with real money from the in-game store) to buy specific Blueprints directly from the daily rotating Item Shop. The prices vary quite a bit based on the rarity and demand for the item:
- Rare/Premium Blueprint: Cost 50-100 Credits
- Very Rare Blueprint: Cost 100-200 Credits
- Import Blueprint: Cost 700-800 Credits
- Exotic Blueprint: Cost 1000-2000+ Credits
- Most Paint Colors: 50-200 Additional Credits
- Titanium White: 100-500 Additional Credits
- Special Editions: 200-400 Additional Credits
In particular, Blueprints for Black Market and painted/certified items tend to cost more based on how desired they are amongst the player base. Expect to spend anywhere from 50 Credits for a basic uncommon Blueprint to several thousand Credits for the most sought after items like White Zombas.
Rocket Pass: The Rocket Pass is Rocket League’s main seasonal progression system. It costs 1000 Credits (around $10) to upgrade to the Premium version which offers several Blueprints alongside other rewards like XP boosts and cosmetic items as you level up tiers. So it can be a way to get some guaranteed Blueprints each season.
Trade with Other Players: Using Rocket League’s player-to-player trading system you can trade Blueprints you earn with other players. This offers more control in acquiring desired items compared to just relying on random chance from matches and challenges. Traders will expect to receive Credits or items around the same value for rare/valuable Blueprints though.
However, for trading, you must have purchased at least 500 credits otherwise, you can’t do trading! So, buy at least 500 credits if you want to trade.
Bonus Part – Rarity of Blueprints
When earning Blueprints through the free methods mentioned earlier, there is always an element of chance governing the rarity and attributes like paint or certification. Here are the rough odds of getting different tiers of Blueprints in Rocket League:
Rare Item 55% – This common Blueprint tier makes up more than half of all drops and includes decals, banners, borders, etc.
Very Rare Item 28% – The Very Rare Blueprint tier contains around 28% of drops and consists of items like wheels, rocket boosts, trails, etc.
Import Item 12% – These Blueprints are rarer with about a 12% drop rate. This tier contains the most visually distinct items like bodies, goal explosions, etc.
Exotic Item 4% – Exotic Blueprints have coveted items like wheels and Black Market decals. They only appear around 4% of the time.
Black Market 1% – The rarest and most coveted drops. Only 1% of earned Blueprints reach this tier with high-value items guaranteed.
Beyond tiers, individual Blueprints can also have additional attributes like:
Chance of item being painted 25% – Any Blueprint has roughly a 1 in 4 chance of dropping as a painted variant, distinguished by unique colors.
Chance of item being certified 25% – Similarly, any Blueprint has around a 25% probability of having a Stat-Tracking certification attached.
So while base Blueprint rarity tiers impact potential value, secondary attributes like paint and certs can drastically boost desirability, trading value, etc. The odds are stacked against receiving top-tier drops though unless spending Credits!
